Jeeper’s Jamboree Fifty DVD
For those who are tired of rock crawling competitions and rigs that have never seen paved roads except looking down from a trailer, you might enjoy this video. It is a documentary of one of, if not the oldest Jeep events in the country. The event is a run of the famous Rubicon Trail.
I bought this DVD on kind of whim…. I have had a fondness for the Rubicon Trail ever since I spent some time in the lake Tahoe area years ago. I have never run the trail but it is one of the things I want to do before I die.
The DVD is professionally shot and edited which is a refreshing change from many of the 4x4 videos out there.
Some might find this video a bit boring at first…it covers a lot of history of the Jamboree and the town in which it is held. Once out on the trail the action picks up. Lots of shots of average people tackling obstacles on the trail. Plus they include some vintage footage of past Jamborees…..Lots of MBs 2As and CJ 5s. The video takes you through all the key points of the trail plus other aspects of the event. One thing I found Unnecessary was too much time was spent on a concert they gave one night of the event…..They played a whole song from one band….must have been a relative of the producer, but you can fast forward past it.
Over all I would give this DVD a three stars out of five. Improvements I would make are…put some extras on the DVD like bloopers or chapter selection. Another cool addition would have been a map that you could click on to jump to that part of the trail…..
